“Emergency Destruction Services” have just been initiated by President Joe Biden at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, The Daily Wire reports, meaning all “sensitive material” is to be destroyed.
The order comes as Taliban forces have captured and conquered a majority of Afghanistan following the withdrawal of American troops from most of the country.
American flags included
The Washington Post published an internal memorandum, titled “Emergency Destruction Services at the Garrison,” that the Biden administration sent to “All American Personnel” at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul.
“Facilities will provide destruction support between 0803 and 1600 daily until further notice,” the memo reads. “Please take advantage and reduce the amount of sensitive material on the property.”
The Biden administration added, “Please also include items with embassy or agency logos, American flags, or items which could be misused in propaganda efforts.” In other words, as The Daily Wire points out, the Biden administration is trying to save itself from some of the embarrassment it will soon face after the Taliban takes over Kabul, including the U.S. Embassy building.
Kabul to fall soon
Reports indicate that, as of Friday, the Taliban was within miles of Kabul. This means that by publication time, there is a strong possibility that the Taliban will have successfully captured the country’s capital city.
The group’s seizure of Afghanistan has rapidly evolved in what appears to be a matter of a few weeks. It only took the Taliban roughly 10 days to capture the majority of the country
The capture was facilitated by the Biden administration’s rapid withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan. The complete withdrawal is scheduled to be completed by the end of the month. As of now, the Biden administration is working to evacuate all remaining Americans from the war-torn country.
The blame game
Many believe that the situation has been an embarrassment for the Biden administration, considering that just last month Biden made a claim that didn’t age well. He said, “the likelihood there’s going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely.” Yet, here we are.
Unsurprisingly, Biden and his administration have attempted to shift the blame onto former President Donald Trump, as Trump was the one who initiated the U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Trump and his people, though, have fired back at Biden, pointing out that they initiated a conditioned withdrawal, and one of the conditions was leaving American interests and Americans alone. Trump says that he established a “credible deterrent,” but thanks to Biden that deterrent is gone, as evidenced by the Taliban’s recent actions.
Polls have yet to indicate who Americans side with on the catastrophic developments. But, there is no denying that worldwide, America seems to be less feared under the Biden administration than it was under the Trump administration.
