While President Joe Biden continues to boast of his administration’s commitment to “green energy,” some in Europe now say that Americans should abandon his plan.
Among them is David Cowling, who serves as a senior research fellow at King’s College University in London. During a recent interview with former CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson, he said Europe’s energy experience should serve as a warning for the United States.

British researcher: “The experiment has been disastrous”
“The experiment has been disastrous,” Cowley told Attkisson. He added that the cost and unreliability of alternative energy sources has led to higher consumer costs as well as a dangerous reliance on Russia.
“The war in Ukraine has laid bare poor planning, unrealistic goals, and reliance on an unreliable partner: Russia. Russia was providing half of the European Union’s coal and 40% of its gas,” he explained.
Fox News reported in 2018 that then-President Donald Trump warned that Germany’s energy policies made it dangerously dependent on Russia for natural gas.
“Germany is totally controlled by Russia,” the network quoted Trump as saying during a breakfast meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. “Germany as far, as I’m concerned, is captive to Russia,” he added.
Trump pointed out contradiction
Trump went on to point out the contradiction in using American troops to defend Germany from Russia given that the NATO ally is relying on Russia for its energy needs.
Those words were met by criticism from many on the left, including former Massachusetts Democratic Sen. John Kerry.

Yet while Trump was mocked for his comments, Daily Wire senior editor Cabot Phillips argued in a July tweet that the former president has since been vindicated.
