Report: House Democrats will drop bribery charges from articles of impeachment

We knew all along that the charges of “bribery” lobbed at President Trump by opportunistic Democrats simply weren’t true.

Now it appears that they’re conceding it.

Breitbart News reports:

Democrats are apparently going to drop accusations of “bribery” and “obstruction of justice” from their articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, which are expected to be delivered on Tuesday, according to reports.

As Breitbart News’ Joshua Caplan noted Monday evening, the Washington Post broke the story that Democrats “will focus on abuse of power and obstructing Congress.”

“Bribery” was apparently a focus-group-tested accusation that Democrats hoped would besmirch the President while forming a crucial link to the Consistution’s mention of that crime as an impeachable offense. There was just one problem.

Trump didn’t bribe anyone. The Democrats could never answer the simple question: show me the bribe.

In more good news for Trump, it appears that the Democrats are dropping another specious charge – “obstruction of justice.” Breitbart again:

Democrats will also apparently abandon “obstruction of justice” charges stemming from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia “collusion.” Though Mueller found no “collusion,” he declined to make a recommendation about obstruction.

Now all they need to do is drop impeachment entirely.
