President Joe Biden is creating a new program that will provide “legal services” to those who cross the southern border.
The Biden administration is gearing up to provide legal services to migrants entering the immigration system in seven border towns, according to a government solicitation for contractors published on Thursday.
Guess who is going to be paying for it. If you said, “the American taxpayer,” you got it.
Biden will refer to the new program as the Legal Access at the Border (LAB) program. According to Axios, the goal is to “help prepare migrants for the immigration legal process.”
The seven cities in which the program will be set up are San Diego and Calexico, California; Nogales, Arizona; and El Paso, Eagle Pass, Loredo, and Brownsville, Texas.
The outlet reports that the program “will be for migrants attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border, those in Border Patrol custody, in the MPP program or who may be enrolled in MPP or otherwise placed in deportation proceedings, according to the published documents on SAM.gov.”
“MPP” is Migrant Protection Protocols, which is better known as the “Remain in Mexico” policy. It is the Trump-era policy that required those seeking asylum to wait in Mexico while their immigration litigation is pending.
According to Axios, “Contractors will explain the migrants’ options for staying in the U.S. while deportation orders are pending, as well as general immigration court practices and procedures.”
But, what will not be provided to the border crossers by LAB are attornies, which isn’t that big of a blow, since taxpayer-funded attornies are already being provided to illegal aliens, to fight deportation, in a number of major U.S. cities.
President Biden and his administration have been pushing this idea for some time now. For example, in May of 2021, Biden signed an executive order looking to give the Department of Justice (DOJ) the ability to expand legal representation for unaccompanied minor children.
The expanded legal services for border crossers and illegal aliens are part of a larger plan by the Biden administration to transform the southern border into a mere checkpoint for foreign nationals seeking entry to the U.S.
That goal envisions “European-style reception centers” where border crossers and illegal aliens are immediately met with medical services, legal advice, and educational programs.
And, this, of course, will only make the southern border crisis that we have witnessed under Biden’s leadership even worse.
