Report: President Biden may be working with Dems on Jan 6th committee

President Joe Biden is reportedly working with the Democrat-led House committee that is “investigating” the January 6th Capitol riot.

Breitbart reports a White House spokesperson as revealing that Biden, in fact, has, “for several months now,” been turning over information about Trump to the Democrats on the January 6th committee.

The spokesperson is quoted as saying that the Biden Administration “has been engaging with Congress on matters relating to January 6 for several months now and will continue to do so.”

Background

The House’s January 6th committee is trying to dig up whatever dirt it can on former President Donald Trump.

Accordingly, it is trying to get access to documents that detail anything that Trump may have said or done with regard to the January 6th riot. These documents are kept in the National Archives, which has already handed them over to both President Joe Biden and to Trump’s legal team.

Trump certainly isn’t going to just hand the documents over. His plan is to invoke executive privilege. But, the House committee could still get the documents from Biden, and it appears that this is what they have been trying to do.

The Washington Post put out a report on Thursday that indicated that, in this regard, Biden has been leaning towards “disclosure,” suggesting that he has already handed the documents over or will hand the documents over.

A spokesperson for Trump has responded to the report by calling the committee a “high partisan, Communist-style ‘select committee” and by vowing to defend executive privilege.

The latest

Reports indicate that the Democrats on the January 6th committee just subpoenaed four of Trump’s allies.

The four allies are Mark Meadows, the former White House chief of staff, Steve Bannon, Trump’s former advisor, Dan Scavino, the former deputy chief of staff, and Kashyap Patel, the former chief of staff for the acting defense secretary.

The Democrats subpoenaed these four individuals because they believe that each of them was “working in or had communications with the White House on or in the days leading up to the January 6th insurrection.” They claim that Meadows, Bannon, and Scavino may have facilitated the riot, and they note that Patel was involved in the Pentagon’s response to the incident.

The subpoenas ask the four men to either produce documents or to appear for a deposition. If they fail to do so, they are being threatened with a criminal contempt charge.
