Report: Trump planning to replace thousand of federal bureaucrats

Throughout his time in the White House, former President Donald Trump regularly complained that he was being obstructed by ideologically motivated members of the federal bureaucracy.

Although Trump has yet to formally announce whether or not he intends to run again, an Axios report says the former president already has a plan to keep that from happening again.

The executive order could affect up to 50,000 federal employees

Published on Saturday, the article examined an executive order Trump signed in October of 2020 which was later rescinded by his successor.

This order established a “Schedule F” employment category for federal workers whose roles involve “confidential, policy-determining, policy-making or policy-advocating.”

The new designation could result in as many as 50,000 federal bureaucrats losing their job protection and becoming at-will employees who are far easier to fire.

“The impact could go well beyond typical conservative targets such as the Environmental Protection Agency and the Internal Revenue Service,” the article explained.

It added, “Trump allies are working on plans that would potentially strip layers at the Justice Department — including the FBI, and reaching into national security, intelligence, the State Department and the Pentagon, sources close to the former president say.”

What’s more, many of their replacements are said to have already been selected, with “well-funded groups” creating lists of individuals who are “committed to Trump and his agenda.”

The piece stated that “preparations are far more advanced and ambitious than previously reported” and contrast sharply with the “virtually non-existent infrastructure” Trump had before taking office in 2017.

Trump: “We need to fire the swamp”

According to Breitbart, a copy of the speech Trump gave on Saturday at the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit laid out his plans for confronting federal bureaucrats.

“To drain the swamp, we need to fire the swamp. With schedule F, I took executive action to make it possible to fire federal employees who are bypassing our democracy to advance wokeism and corruption,” Trump’s prepared remarks read.

“We now need Congress to institute historic reforms to permanently empower the President to root out the Deep State, and ensure that any bureaucrat who is corrupt, incompetent, or unnecessary can be told, ‘You’re fired,'” the speech continued.
