Arizona Republican says he’s leading the charge to ‘remove Nancy Pelosi’

Like countless Americans, a growing number of House Republicans — and perhaps even some Democrats, too — have grown tired of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) mismanagement of the lower chamber. Now, one member of the GOP is taking action to have her removed.

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), chair of the House Freedom Caucus, has been leading the charge to get Pelosi fired from her role of House speaker — and according to Fox News, he’s doubling down.

“Hold that vote”

Congressman Biggs reiterated his call for Pelosi to be removed from the speakership in a short video posted to Twitter on Friday.

“I’ve been leading the efforts in the House of Representatives to remove Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House,” he wrote, as Fox News reported. “Most Republican Members of Congress wholeheartedly agree that this action must be taken!”

In his video, Biggs explains the process to remove a sitting speaker, known as a motion to vacate the chair. “I hope that we have the opportunity to hold that vote on the floor of the House of Representatives,” he remarked.

“Vacate the chair”

The congressman also showed in his video a highlight reel of Pelosi’s most egregious moments, including when she ripped up President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on live TV earlier this year and when she violated local coronavirus restrictions to get her hair done in San Francisco recently.

“She’s going to end up as a footnote in history,” Biggs charged in a voiceover, according to Fox. “She’s going to lose Congress, the House of Representatives two times as Speaker of the House. That’s never been done before in the history of the country,”

The video closed with bold white letters on a black screen that read: “Remove Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House. Vacate the chair.”

“I will not stop fighting”

Biggs’ video was released alongside a press release issued on Wednesday. In it, the congressman argued that “Speaker Pelosi has abused her position, demonized millions of Americans, and extracted political revenge on President Trump by impeaching him. Millions of Americans, including many of our constituents, agree that Nancy Pelosi must go now.”

“I will not stop fighting to remove Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House,” Biggs wrote, according to Fox. “I will continue to work with our Republican leadership and our conference to ensure that Nancy Pelosi is no longer able to destroy our republic as Speaker of the House.”

While Biggs’ actions may only end up being symbolic, it’s nice to know someone is fighting on the American people’s behalf.
