Fox News published a piece on Monday linking the violence that is coming from the left to “dangerous Democrat rhetoric.”
The piece is written by Ronna McDaniel, the head of the Republican National Committee (RNC). It is titled, “Left’s political violence tied to dangerous Democrat rhetoric.”
McDaniel’s article comes following the recent assassination attempt of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh and other justices have become the targets of leftwing “protestors” following the leaked draft decision in which the court overturns the landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade.
Her overall argument in her op-ed is that there is a direct link between this violence and the rhetoric of Democratic leadership.
Example after example
McDaniel supports her argument with a number of examples of the controversial rhetoric used in recent years by Democrat leaders. One of the examples that have garnered the most attention, particularly following the assassination attempt of Kavanaugh, is what Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) said in 2020.
“I want to tell you, [Justice Neil] Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price,” Schumer said. “You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”
The well-known lawyer Alan Dershowitz recently suggested that Schumer may be “in trouble” for this statement as it could be seen as an incitement to violence.
McDaniel went on to provide a number of other examples, such as when Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) encouraged followers to directly confront Republicans or when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) suggested there ought to be “uprisings all over the country” in response to former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.
The RNC head also cited as support for her argument President Joe Biden and his administration’s refusal to more directly condemn the actions of these leftist protests who are targeting Supreme Court Justices.
Americans “won’t forget”
McDaniel concludes her op-ed by arguing that these examples prove that the Democrats are okay with using violence as a means to an end, and that the American people, ultimately, will hold the Democrats accountable for this in the upcoming elections.
“Nothing can conceal the truth: today’s Democrat party is more than comfortable condoning, encouraging, and demanding violence to achieve its political aims,” McDaniel writes.
“American people understand this radicalism for what it is — and they won’t forget it come November,” she adds.
