Leftist were outraged last week after the Supreme Court ruled that abortion is not a constitutionally protected right, with some resorting to arson and vandalism.
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani became the target of that ire when he was slapped while visiting a ShopRite on Staten Island.Â
Attacker to Giuliani: “You’re a f–king scumbag”
According to the New York Post, the incident occurred while Giuliani was campaigning for his son, Andrew Giuliani, who is running for governor.
“All of a sudden, I feel this ‘Bam!’ on my back,” Giuliani was quoted as saying. “I don’t know if they helped me not fall down, but I just about fell down, but I didn’t.”
“I feel this tremendous pain in my back, and I’m thinking, what the — I didn’t even know what it was,” he said. “All of a sudden, I hear this guy say, ‘You’re a f–king scumbag,’ then he moves away so nobody can grab him,” the former mayor explained.
“And he says, ‘You, you’re one of the people that’s gonna kill women. You’re gonna kill women,'” Giuliani recalled of the individual, who is now reportedly facing assault charges.
“‘You and your f–king friend are gonna kill women.’ Then he starts yelling out all kinds of, just curses, and every once in a while, he puts in that woman thing,” Giuliani explained.
“‘You guys think you’re saving babies, but you’re gonna kill women,'” Giuliani said that his attacker went on to assert.
“The Supreme Court made a decision,” Giuliani declared, insisting, “You don’t go around attacking people because of it. I mean, go get it changed.”
Former mayor has attacker arrested
Later, Giuliani spoke with Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa on his 77 WABC talk radio show to further discuss the incident.
Giuliani told Sliwa that the slap felt as though “somebody shot me” before adding, “Luckily, I’m a 78-year-old who is in pretty good shape. If I wasn’t, I would have hit the ground and probably cracked my skull.”
The former mayor went on to say that he felt duty-bound to have the man arrested “as an example that you can’t do this.”
