Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) revealed that Democrats have “a number of plans” in place to remove President Donald Trump, should he lose the election but refuse to leave office, The Hill reports.
Sanders’ remarks came on Friday night during an interview with far-left cable television host Bill Maher.
“And if Trump attempts to stay in office after losing, there will be a number of plans out there to make sure that he is evicted from office,” Sanders said.
The latest from Trump
In recent months, Democrats, like Sanders, have tried to claim that President Trump will refuse to leave office should he lose. Here, the president hasn’t helped himself out, either.
“We’re going to have to see what happens, you know, but I’ve been complaining very strongly about the ballots,” Trump said on Wednesday. “The ballots are a disaster.”
President Trump, with such remarks, is leaving open the possibility of challenging the election results. This seems fair, particularly given that over half of American voters are expected to vote-by-mail this election and that we have already seen many problems with this type of voting.
“Get rid of the ballots and you’ll have a very peaceful — there won’t be a transfer, frankly. There will be a continuation,” Trump added. “The ballots are out of control. You know it, and you know who knows it better than anyone else? The Democrats know it better than anyone else.”
Fear-mongering at its best
There is no doubt that Biden and his campaign are probably geared up to challenge anything questionable that may occur with mail-in voting as well. But, somehow, Democrats like Sanders go from Trump’s reserving the right to challenge things to Trump refusing to leave office.
It is all part of the Democrats’ attempts to make Trump look like some evil dictator.
Sanders, in fact, has been going around the country giving speeches insisting that Trump is going to refuse to leave office.
“Never in a million years did I ever think that I would have to give a speech about what do we do if a president refuses to leave office if he loses,” Sanders said on Thursday. “I never, ever thought that I would have to give that speech, or anyone else. But that is where we are today.”
Maybe Sanders and other Democrats ought to worry about winning the election first. Although, they probably have a removal plan for Trump in place should they lose again, as well.
