Schumer tells reporters that all Americans who wanted to leave Afghanistan already have

President Joe Biden and his top officials have given a growing list of different answers when asked how many Americans are still stranded in Afghanistan after the president’s humiliating, botched troop withdrawal last month.

While the numbers seem to change on a daily basis, according to the Washington Examiner, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) seems to be under the impression that not a single American remains stranded in Afghanistan, which is not only blatantly false, but it’s also outrageously disrespectful.

What did he say?

On Friday, Schumer made an appearance at the New York State Fair, where he talked about his focus on getting more Afghans out of Afghanistan, while claiming that Americans were no longer stranded there.

“I’m still focused on trying to get some of those brave Afghans out,” Schumer said. “The Americans, all of whom wanted to come out, have come out — praise God. But there are a lot of Afghans who risked their lives for our soldiers and others. Many got out, some didn’t, and I’m still working on trying to get some of them out.”

One can only imagine being one of the actual Americans stuck in Afghanistan hearing one of the highest-ranking members of U.S. Congress tells people that every American has made it out.

Schumer’s office was contacted for comment by the Examiner regarding his lie about all Americans being out, but unsurprisingly, he hadn’t returned any comment as of this writing.

Schumer the liar

A quick Google search will easily turn up the latest breaking stories reporting that not only are there still far too many Americans stuck in Afghanistan, but even worse, many of the charter jets hired by rescue groups to extract the Americans are still grounded.

Even the Democrat-friendly NPR reported as much on Tuesday.

“Multiple planes meant to ferry hundreds of people who say they are fearful of life under the Taliban’s rule, including American citizens and green card holders, spent another day parked on an airstrip in northern Afghanistan Monday,” NPR reporters Jackie Northam and Chris Bendereve wrote.

Later in the story, NPR reported that the U.S. State Department “is prepared to help all remaining U.S. citizens, green card holders and at risk Afghans who want to leave.”

It’s bad enough that Democratic politicians like Schumer lie about politics, but to essentially erase the idea that there are perhaps hundreds of Americans desperately seeking to escape Afghanistan is disgusting and downright shameful.
