Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz suggested that a law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor may be behind the leaked opinion regarding a case that could overturn Roe v. Wade.
Cruz shared the comments during Thursday’s episode of “Verdict with Ted Cruz.”

The statement
“It is likely to be someone who is a hard partisan and who was willing to burn the place down because he or she was so upset about what happened,” Cruz told co-host Michael Knowles.
“If I were to guess the most likely justice for whom the law clerk is clerking is Sonia Sotomayor … because she is the most partisan of the justices and so she’s the most likely the higher wild-eyed partisan as clerks. I have no evidence of that, I’m just making an inference,” he added.
Not such a mystery
Cruz noted that the case is not as much of a mystery as has been suggested.
“We know the reporters who published the story. One of the natural inquiries is going to be, particularly of the 12 likely suspects, what contacts did they have with those reporters?
“Did they know the reporters, did they go to school with the reporters, did they have emails with the reporters, do they have phone calls with the reporters, do they have texts with the reporters?” he asked.
Chief Justice John Roberts has launched an investigation into the incident that is being led by the Marshal of the Court. Cruz believes the person or people involved should be prosecuted.

The case is certainly an important one that must be investigated. The matter concerns one of the most important topics in the nation and also addresses the integrity of the court following the latest leak.
