GOP senator suggests ‘we’re just scratching the surface’ of alleged Biden wrongdoing

As Democrat White House nominee Joe Biden faces renewed accusations of corruption over his son’s international business deals, one Republican senator is suggesting that there is something much more disturbing yet to be exposed.

In an interview with Fox News, Republican Sen. Ron Johnson (WI) didn’t rule out the possibility that Hunter Biden’s laptop was seized in a child pornography investigation, the Washington Examiner reported.

“We’re just scratching the surface”

The laptop in question has been in the news ever since emails about Hunter Biden’s foreign business were published by the New York Post last week.

According to the report, a computer tech who came into possession of the laptop got in touch with the FBI and they seized it, but not before he made a copy of its hard drive and sent it to Rudy Giuliani, who later leaked the contents to the Post.

While the news has focused on evidence of corruption, there has also been speculation that the FBI had served the subpoena in a child porn investigation. Faint handwriting on the subpoena suggests that the agent who signed it was a man named Joshua Wilson, who investigates child pornography cases, according to Business Insider.

On Sunday Morning Futures, Fox host Maria Bartiromo asked Sen. Johnson to weigh in the rumors. He was careful, but he did not rule out the possibility. “I think you just made the connection. Again, this is what the FBI, I think, has to come clean about,” he said, according to the Washington Examiner.

“I don’t want to speculate, other than to say that — what I said publicly before. Our report uncovered so many troubling connections, so many things that need to be investigated, that I really think we’re just scratching the surface,” Johnson added.

“Why did they sit on it?”

It’s not clear what Johnson has seen or heard, but the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which he chairs, has been in contact with the repairman. The tech, for his part, said that he “did not see” child porn on the laptop, according to a separate report from the Examiner.

To be clear, this claim remains highly speculative — but the idea that Hunter Biden and his dad treated the former vice president’s public office as an opportunity to get rich is not, despite claims from Joe Biden’s buddies in the press that it’s nothing but “Russian disinformation.”

According to Breitbart, more emails from a former business partner of Hunter Bidens’s have been turned over to journalist Peter Schweizer, in addition to the original set of documents leaked to the Post showing that Joe met with an executive of the Ukrainian company Burisma Holdings, where the younger Biden held a lucrative position despite having no experience in the field — or in Ukraine.

In the meantime, Sen. Johnson is calling on the FBI to set the record straight on what they found, while raising the possibility that they’ve been sitting on damning evidence.

“Why did they sit on it? Are they covering up just because Hunter Biden might be engaged in things that also maybe should have been investigated and possibly prosecuted?” Johnson told Bartiromo, according to Fox News.
