Of all of the various forms of sexual criminality and predation, there is little argument that those who prey upon innocent children are the worst of them all and should be dealt with harshly by society and the judicial system.
A former U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Bliss in Texas, who is already serving time in prison for sex crimes against children, pleaded guilty this week to federal charges related to the sexual abuse of a child in a separate incident, Breitbart reported.
When sentenced, that ex-soldier could face anywhere from 30 years to life in federal prison in addition to the time he has already been separately sentenced to serve in state prison.
Sexually abused multiple children
Local affiliate KFOX reported that the former Fort Bliss soldier, 28-year-old Trevor Dylan Lehew, of Plano, Texas, pleaded guilty to having sexually abused a six-year-old child at the Army base.
He was accused of having “engaged in the continuing sexual abuse of the child” between November 2014 through December 2015 while he was an active-duty soldier stationed at Fort Bliss.
According to the El Paso Times, the court documents did not disclose the connection between Lehew and the child that he repeatedly abused.
Lehew had been indicted by a federal grand jury in December and was arrested in January while he was already serving a 20-year sentence in a Texas state prison.
That state prison sentence followed a conviction in 2020 for sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child that was related to an incident in Dallas County.
Faces up to life in prison
Breitbart noted that the criminal charges from Dallas County involved two children, and it is unknown if Lehew is related to any of the children he is guilty of sexually abusing.
The outlet noted that this recent plea deal with Lehew was arranged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas and his guilty plea was accepted by U.S. District Judge Leon Schydlower in an El Paso federal courtroom.
Lehew will eventually stand before Judge Schydlower again for sentencing, where he faces a minimum of 30 years or up to a maximum of life in federal prison.
Hopefully, the judge will sentence this sexual predator who preys upon innocent children to the maximum amount of time behind bars in order to ensure that he can never again sexually abuse another child for the rest of his miserable life.
