Some Democrats worried Kamala Harris may run for president

President Joe Biden is continuing to be hit by low poll numbers, with a recent Civiqs survey giving him an approval rating of just 30%.

Vice President Kamala Harris isn’t doing much better, as another Civiqs poll found only 35% approve of how she has performed. That has some Democrats afraid of what will happen if Biden doesn’t seek a second term.

Democratic donor: “She seems completely useless”

According to a New York Post article published this weekend, members of Harris’ party “are despairing about the possibility of Kamala Harris becoming the 2024 nominee.”

While her supporters have long said the vice president is being held back by misogyny and racism, University of Virginia politics professor Larry Sabato told the Post that this simply isn’t the case.

“Her main problem is not being a woman or mixed race, her problem is she has low ratings just like President Biden,” Sabato was quoted as saying.

“If Biden were riding sky high, she would be doing relatively well as well,” he stated, adding, “She would be seen as a popular successor carrying on a popular president’s mandate,” he continued.

Meanwhile, a high-dollar Democratic donor who spoke on the condition of anonymity complained that Harris exudes incompetence.

“She seems completely useless,” the donor complained, adding, “No one involved in this administration should be in the running.”

Harris praised for being “a strong black woman”

An unnamed Democratic staffer on Capitol Hill echoed that assessment, saying, “She doesn’t know how to build a staff that has a common purpose.”

“You see a lot of her staffers are doing their own thing,” the staffer asserted. “There is little guidance from her and it just looks messy all the time and all she can do when asked about it publicly and privately is giggle.”

“I just don’t think people are seeing her as a serious contender. If she weren’t the vice president she wouldn’t even been ON the list,” the staffer went on.

However, Democratic political consultant Chris Coffey has a different view, telling the Post, “Kamala is a strong black woman, the first elected vice president. Democrats can’t win without having high black turnout. She is a role model and a beacon to millions of people around the country.”
