Source: ICE agents forced to coordinate travel for illegal immigrants, some with criminal records

A source from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) told Fox News on Wednesday that the agency has been turned into an “unofficial travel coordination agency,” and that agents are forced to make travel plans to other parts of the U.S. interior for illegal immigrants, including those with criminal records.

The source’s comments came in reaction to Fox News reporting that large numbers of male illegal immigrants were being released into the U.S. interior through a small office in Brownsville, Texas.

Footage obtained by the network showed dozens of immigrants being dropped off at a parking garage in Brownsville by federally contracted buses. Fox News then observed hundreds of migrants being dropped off over a few days.

The ICE source told Fox News that mass releases much larger than their coverage have been taking place since February and that the ICE Enforcement and Removal Operation (ERO) has mostly been making travel arrangements.

“Morale at the lowest”

“Between [releases] and the vaccine mandate the morale is at the lowest,’ the source said. “Imagine going to the office to make phone calls all day to coordinate travel for someone who just came in illegally, some of them with criminal records.”

The Biden administration is blocking most deportations, worksite enforcement raids, and arrests of illegal immigrants unless they are recent border crossers, aggravated felons or national security threats.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has said he is proud of a recent rule change by the administration not to consider immigrants’ legal status when considering deportation or other enforcement.

“We have fundamentally changed immigration enforcement in the interior,” he said.

Taxpayers paying

While the source said the ICE agents ask family members of the migrants to pay for a bus or plane ticket for their travel, if they don’t, taxpayers foot the bill.

More than 178,000 migrants were caught coming into the U.S. across the southern border in December, and officials believe the high numbers will continue as long as Biden’s policies allow many to stay in the U.S. without penalty.

Biden has been court-ordered to restart the Trump-era Remain in Mexico policy that keeps migrants in Mexico until their hearings, but only a few hundred people have been enrolled in that program so far.

It’s hard to believe that policies like this will not absolutely ruin the country if they are not reversed.
