President Trump attended the West Point graduation on Saturday to deliver the commencement address to the 2020 graduating class.
He was just forced to address rumors about his health after he was filmed slowly and carefully descending the ramp from the stage after his speech.
Donald Trump’s West Point address was a rousing call to unity for both the graduates and Americans at large, but Democrats had to come up with a way to distract from his message.
Twitter exploded theories about the state of Trump’s health after the speech, and the hashtag #Trumpisnotwell began trending on Twitter soon after.
Many users compared Trump’s descent from the stage to that of former President Obama, who confidently marched up the same ramp during his own commencement address during his tenure as president.
Trump responded to the speculation on Saturday evening: “The ramp that I descended after my West Point Commencement speech was very long & steep, had no handrail and, most importantly, was very slippery.”
“The last thing I was going to do is ‘fall’ for the Fake News to have fun with. Final ten feet I ran down to level ground. Momentum!”
Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden has exhibited a concerning pattern of cognitive health decline and fragility for months. Accordingly, Democrats have seized on every possible opportunity to cast aspersions on the state of President Trump’s health.
Donald Trump celebrates his 74th birthday on Sunday. According to his most recent physical, released in early June, Trump is healthy. Trump’s personal physician wrote in a memo that “there were no findings of significance or changes to report.”
West Point Address
In his first address to West Point graduates during his presidency, Trump celebrated the history and legacy of West Point and honored the newly graduated cadets:
Across this hallowed plain have passed many of the greatest and most fearsome soldiers that ever lived. They were heroes who drove thundering columns of Sherman tanks into the heart of a wicked empire. They were legends who unleashed the fury of American artillery upon our enemies on remote islands and distant shores. They were titans who strode through cannon blast and cavalry charge, and stared down our foes through gray clouds of smoke and shrapnel … No evil force on Earth can match the noble power and righteous glory of the American warrior.
I have no doubt that the young men and women before me today will add your names to this eternal chronicle of American heroes.
“What has historically made America unique is the durability of its institutions against the passions and prejudices of the moment,” Trump continued. “When times are turbulent, when the road is rough, what matters most is that which is permanent, timeless, enduring and eternal.”
“As long as you remain loyal, faithful, and true, then our enemies don’t even stand a chance, our rights will never be stolen, our freedoms will never be trampled, our destiny will never be denied, and the United States of America will never be defeated,” President Trump concluded.
