States sue Biden over executive order on greenhouse gases

In one of the many executive orders President Joe Biden signed upon taking office, he established a “Working Group on the Social Cost of Greenhouse Gases.”

The order, “Protecting Public Health and the Environment and Restoring Science to Tackle the Climate Crisis,” hasn’t gone over well with a coalition of energy-producing states, which view the move as a massive federal overreach and threat to their economies, and they’ve decided to take legal action.

Louisiana, Wyoming, Texas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Dakota and West Virginia filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration on Thursday in the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, the Washington Examiner reported.

The suit states that the results of Biden’s environmental executive order “will remake our federalism balance of power, American life, and the American economy.”

Order threatens “state’s livelihood”

Among the state’s objections is a provision in the order that states, “An accurate social cost is essential for agencies to accurately determine the social benefits of reducing greenhouse gas emissions when conducting cost-benefit analyses of regulatory and other actions.”

A statement from Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon (R) warned that the Biden administration’s policies will be devastating to the country’s economic health, the Examiner reported.

“This Executive Order improperly changes how decisions are made by applying a selective and highly biased feel-good rationale that has the potential to significantly harm industries critical to the nation’s and my state’s livelihood,” he declared.

Gordon continued, “Arbitrarily justifying any decision to fit political circumstances, including decisions that could be devastating to Wyoming’s energy sector, is not only bad policy, but is unwise.”

“Expansive and expensive”

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton also weighed in with a statement, insisting that greenhouse gas regulations “will result in the most expansive and expensive environmental regulatory initiative in history and affects virtually every federal agency.”

“These estimates will be used to fundamentally transform the entire regulatory structure of the federal government, as well as the way Texas conducts its business and Texans manage their lives,” he continued.

This is not the only energy-related legal challenge the Biden administration is facing. Wyoming has filed a separate suit regarding another executive order which halted the issuance of oil and gas leases on federal land, the Examiner reported.

Private energy companies have filed additional suits of their own.

  1. To hell with greenhouse gases he needs to be dragged into court over the unconstutional 2nd amendment. He has NO RIGHT to impose any gun laws that strip out rights. The G/D democrats are not going to be happy until they control every aspect of our lives. They need to be stopped. They make up laws as they go alone to fit there warped thinking. Its time to say ENOUGH.

    1. The whole Dem party (and the rogue Republicans) need to be in jail along with their man of the hour. Treason all around, and the fact that they are anarchists! This should say enough. Why isn’t the Justice system stepping in and arresting their stealing, lying, cheating a**es? They sure stepped in “lightening speed” to get Trump to court. This is a total outrage, while all of their minions are destroying America by murdering, lying, looting and doing what ever they please? I am so very outraged. Now Politicians are using tax payers money for anything that suits them, as long as they don’t have to be accountable for anything. They all feel they are above the Law. This is ridiculous. Killing everything that’s good for our future generations.

      1. Very well said! The government is so corrupt I don’t trust any of them. It is corrupt even up to the highest court. We wouldn’t have this mess now if our so called politicians would have done their jobs.

      2. Agreed but when you commit treason every time you open your mouth this is what you get. All should be arrested and face charges for treason in a military tribunal which is authorized by the constitution. Their two witch hunts against Trump failed but they continue spending OUR money trying to prove what they can not. It is time to put a stop to them before our freedoms and country are no longer.

  3. Last night I watched two minutes of Beijing Biden’s speech and noticed his lips were moving, so immediately new he was lying and shut the damn speech off! I had better things to do, so went and cleaned the toilet!

  5. Everyone that took office Sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution. These people were voted in by the people, for the people. Not one of them are upholding our Constitution or our Constitutional rights and should be held accountable and charged for treason for not upholding the Constitution, laws of our land and its people.
    Ronald Reagan once said:
Government’s first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives. If we lose freedom here, There is no place to escape to. We are the last line on Earth.
That our natural, inalienable rights are now considered to be a dispensation from government, and freedom has never been so fragile, so close to slipping from our grasp as it is at this moment.
