Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham is the latest Trump administration insider to release a tell-all book about her time in time working for former President Donald Trump.
While promoting her book, Grisham has claimed that she lied on Trump’s behalf, leaving some to wonder whether her latest revelations should be trusted at all.
Grisham initially served as former first lady Melania Trump’s press secretary before becoming the top White House spokesperson. She ultimately stepped down in the wake of the Jan. 6 riot on Capitol Hill.
In separate interviews, she slammed the Trump administration as a place where “casual dishonesty” prevailed, insisting that she was pressured by the president to make false or misleading statements.
Her July 2019 statement calling former White House chief of staff John Kelly “totally unequipped to handle the genius of our great president” was one of her “biggest regrets,” she said.
Of course, Grisham’s claim that she lied to please Trump has fueled speculation regarding the accuracy of the assertions included in her new book.
Mainstream media figures, however, are apparently not dwelling on her potential motives as they eagerly plug the latest Trump-bashing book to hit the market.
“Deceitful and troubled”
Even if parts of her narrative ring true based on everything that is known about the former president, Grisham appears to have a chip on her shoulder and clearly stands to profit from the sale of her book. She is hardly the first former Trump subordinate to look for 15 minutes of fame in the post-Trump media landscape.
Furthermore, her claims about “casual dishonesty” are far from earth-shaking allegations after the media spent four years relentlessly demonizing Trump as a clear and present threat to the nation.
As for his successor, President Joe Biden has already faced a backlash of his own for gaslighting and misleading the American people on important issues from the border crisis to his massive spending agenda.
Trump did not waste any time speaking out against his former press secretary. In a statement, he said that Grisham “didn’t have what it takes” and is being paid by “a radical left-leaning publisher to say bad and untrue things.”
Melania Trump also put out a statement calling her former spokeswoman a “deceitful and troubled individual who doesn’t deserve anyone’s trust.”
