Stephen Miller argued over the weekend that President Joe Biden’s “failed” immigration policy is grounds for impeachment, Breitbart News reports.
Miller was a White House adviser during the administration of former President Donald Trump. He is also the founder of America First Legal.
“Rubbished and trashed”
Miller on Sunday made an appearance on the Fox News Channel’s Life, Liberty & Levin. This is where he argued that Biden’s approach to immigration is “completely impeachable.”
What this president has done is he has turned Congress into a mere suggestion box. The entire Immigration and Nationality Act, which governs who can enter our country, how you apply for a visa, what rules you have to comply with, where you have to apply from — that entire system has been rubbished and trashed by this president as though he were an emperor. And so, it is completely impeachable.
Miller went on to explain how America First Legal has “been involved in a number of lawsuits” in which it was demonstrated how Biden “has violated the clear command of Congress and the clear command of the Constitution.”
“One of those cases that we litigated in partnership with Texas we won on Title 42,” Miller said. “Another one, with respect to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, he has been found to have broken the law again and again and again.”
“And so, yes,” Miller concluded, “these are impeachable crimes, absolutely, especially because [Biden] has not complied with the court injunctions when he loses these lawsuits.”
Miller is one of many Republicans who continue to call for Biden’s impeachment for his approach to immigration.
America has already witnessed either record or near-record immigration numbers since Biden took over. In Fiscal Year 2021, border agents had 1.7 million illegal immigrant encounters. This number is expected to be beaten in Fiscal Year 2022 given that we are currently ahead of 2021’s pace.
A surge, in particular, is expected in the coming months as Title 42 expulsions come to an end.
Title 42 is the Trump-era immigration policy that allowed the federal government to expel illegal immigrants during the coronavirus pandemic. It is scheduled to come to an end on May 23.
Experts are predicting that the number of illegal border crossings could jump from 8,000 per day to 18,000 per day.
