Team of Republicans Call for Biden’s Resignation After Kabul Bombings

The deaths of 12 U.S. military personnel during bombings in Kabul on Thursday has led to calls for President Joe Biden’s resignation from a growing number of Republican voices.

“Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Antony Blinken, Lloyd Austin and General Milley should all resign or face impeachment and removal from office,” Tennessee Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn tweeted, in perhaps the most sweeping call for the resignations of top leaders regarding failures in Afghanistan.

“The Biden Administration had no plan and no strategy. They put Americans directly into harm’s way causing American casualties,” Blackburn added in another tweet. “Resignations are needed.”

Blackburn’s Not Alone

“This is the product of Joe Biden’s catastrophic failure of leadership. It is now painfully clear he has neither the will nor the capacity to lead. He must resign,” Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley said.

“We must reject the falsehood peddled by a feckless president that this was the only option for withdrawal,” he added.

Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan simply tweeted, “Resign.”

Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert added, “It’s time for Joe Biden to resign.”

At least 11 Republican leaders have called for Biden’s resignation or impeachment. The votes aren’t there to impeach the president, but many will continue to call for his departure after his failures in Afghanistan.
