According to The Washington Post, sources close to the campaign of former Vice President Joe Biden have indicated that the presumptive Democratic nominee’s list of potential running mates is narrowing — but it still includes California Sen. Kamala Harris.
However, one civil rights attorney and longtime Democrat recently declared that if Harris is indeed chosen for the number-two spot on Biden’s ticket, he will vote for President Donald Trump, RealClearPolitics reported.
“Democrats, please leave the party”
Speaking on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program Friday, Terrell spoke candidly about his feelings on both Biden and Harris.
“Democrats, please leave the party,” he said, according to RealClearPolitics. “If you want law and order, you can not get it from the Democrats,” he declared.
“It sounds like you’re voting for Donald Trump,” Hannity observed in response. The host went on to ask whether Terrell would vote to re-elect the current president.
“I am not voting for Joe Biden,” the civil rights attorney insisted, according to RealClearPolitics. “If he puts Kamala Harris on I will vote for Donald Trump,” Terrell added.
A prior presidential candidate herself, Harris is a controversial figure within the Democratic Party due in part to her record as California’s attorney general. At a Democratic primary debate in August of last year, then-candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard accused Harris of keeping an innocent man on death row and holding prisoners past their release date so they could continue providing cheap labor for the state.
Terrell takes on the left
During his guest spot on Hannity’s show, Terrell also said that he had “stopped drinking the Democratic Kool-Aid” and accused senior Democrats of trying to pander by putting on “African garb.”
That last comment was apparently a reference to the fact that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) along with other senior Democrats donned kente cloth stoles while kneeling in remembrance of George Floyd on Capitol Hill, as NPR reported.
This was not Terrell’s only fiery appearance on Hannity’s program in recent weeks. RealClearPolitics also reported separately that on June 9, he had an extremely heated exchange with left-wing professor and activist Cornel West.
As the argument grew more intense, Terrell dismissed West as “a dinosaur” and demanded to know why problems associated with policing had not been fixed during President Barack Obama’s eight years in office.
“You disrespect me the day that Brother [George] Floyd is put in his grave?!” the Harvard University professor and occasional actor shouted back. “Who do you think you are?”
