Texas Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez led a law firm representing drug smugglers and gang leaders before running for Congress on a tough-on-crime platform, according to a new report.
Breitbart Texas shared the information that could show the background of the Democrat is far from what he claims in his campaign.

His past
“Gonzalez’s client list includes Richard Contreras, who pleaded guilty to federal drug charges after plotting to smuggle more than 2,200 pounds of marijuana from Mexico to the United States,” Breitbart noted.
“Similarly, in 1999, Gonzalez represented Frank Tijerina — the leader of the ‘Corrupt Criminal Mob,’ a street gang in Texas — who was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison on federal drug charges for conspiring to distribute roughly $420,000 worth of marijuana. Tijerina also eventually pleaded guilty to selling large sums of meth dating back to 1990,” it added.

The details
“Despite the long-standing flow of cartel drugs into McAllen, Gonzalez has criticized former president Donald Trump’s border wall, which he called ‘useless’ and ‘wasteful,'” the Free Beacon reported.
“Instead of funding the wall, the Democrat argued, Congress should send billions of dollars to Central American countries to slow illegal immigration. Gonzalez also said the idea that the wall would ‘stop illegal drugs from coming to our country’ is a ‘myth,'” it added.

Gonzalez is running against Republican Maya Flores who hopes to end the Democrat’s run on a faulty platform.
Her strong campaign push has led to new hope for Republicans in a traditional Democrat border area, leading a new wave of Hispanic conservatives.
The new win would also help Republicans win back the House, a move that could change the direction of the agenda in Washington.
