President Joe Biden has an unbelievable immigration crisis at the southern U.S. border that has quite a few high-profile politicians greatly concerned.
One of those politicians is Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R), who announced recently that he’s launching an effort to help control the out-of-control illegal immigration crisis with the help of National Guard troops and various law enforcement agencies in what he’s labeled as “Operation Lone Star,” according to the Washington Examiner.
Abbot’s new operation is aimed at stemming the flow of the illegal trafficking of both people and drugs along the Texas border with Mexico, as the numbers of illegal immigrants and Mexican Cartel-smuggled drugs is greatly increasing thanks mostly to Biden’s soft approach to border security.
The Texas governor made the announcement over the weekend, as news reports of the exploding border crisis continued to pour in.
“Today Texas launched Operation Lone Star to respond to the border crisis,” Abbott tweeted. “It deploys Nat’l Guard + DPS Officers + air, ground, marine, & tactical border security assets to deny Mexican Cartels & smugglers the ability to move drugs & people into Texas.”
Abbott’s efforts to quell the situation came in the wake of a bombshell report which revealed that roughly 100,000 illegal immigrants were detained at the southern U.S. border in the month of February alone, according to Breitbart.
That number set a 15-year record, and many believe that number could continue to increase, especially on the heels of the Biden administration rolling back virtually all of the executive orders that helped to prevent this kind of situation from reaching these levels.
Abbott wasn’t shy in a statement in which he placed the blame on Biden for letting the situation get to its current point, squarely accusing the 46th president of enacting bad policy moves that only serve to exacerbate the crisis.
“The crisis at our southern border continues to escalate because of Biden Administration policies that refuse to secure the border and invite illegal immigration,” Abbott said.
“Texas supports legal immigration but will not be an accomplice to the open border policies that cause, rather than prevent, a humanitarian crisis in our state and endanger the lives of Texans. We will surge the resources and law enforcement personnel needed to confront this crisis,” the governor added.
Members of the Biden administration continue to virtually deny that the problem is as bad as it is in reality and have avoided the use of words like “crisis,” instead choosing to describe the situation as a “challenge.”
Only time will tell if Biden is able to answer that “challenge,” but in the meantime, at least we have governors like Abbott who aren’t afraid to use the power and law enforcement resources of his state to begin tackling the crisis right now.
