Texas school district bans critical race theory, gender theory

The infiltration of woke teachings on sex, gender, and race into children’s classrooms has energized parents all across the country to begin pushing back on the radical left’s toxic agenda.

Those efforts are bearing some fruit, with one school board in Texas voting to ban critical race theory and transgender ideology, Breitbart reported.

Bans CRT, gender theory

The split, 4-3 vote at Grapevine-Colleyville schools banned the New York Times’ revisionist, critical race theory-inspired 1619 Project, which claims that the year slaves were brought to America is the nation’s starting point instead of 1776.

In a nod to Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law, the school board also barred discussion of sexuality before grade 5, and teachers will no longer be required to use transgender pronouns.

Students will also have to use bathrooms corresponding with their sex and boys will not be permitted to participate in girls’ sports.

The policies also introduce more rigorous oversight of library materials, a response to the introduction of pornographic and ideological materials in schools nationwide, and parents will be empowered to review the books being taught to their children in an online portal.

Seemingly non-controversial measures like these have been blasted by Democrats as repressive and akin to book-burning, but conservative leaders such as Florida governor Ron DeSantis (R) say they protect the rights of parents and children who are being indoctrinated, or even “groomed” to question their sex.

Parents “had enough”

Grapevine-Colleyville schools prohibit teaching that people can be “inherently racist, sexist or oppressive,” a direct repudiation of critical race theory, which teaches that “white supremacy” is baked into America’s institutions and that whites are uniquely culpable of “systemic racism.”

Board member Shannon Braun said that parents have “had enough” of the “social, cultural, and political agendas that have plagued our district classrooms.”

A former principal in the district was forced out after sending a letter to parents saying that “systemic racism” was “alive and well” after the death of George Floyd.

CRT has proven to be a potent political wedge issue, leaving Democrats on the defensive to deny it is being taught to kids at all — even as they combat efforts to ban it.

The CRT ban in Texas was made possible after a conservative, Tammy Nakamura, was elected to the school board on an anti-CRT platform with support from 1776 Project PAC, a group that aims to take back school boards from woke progressives.
