Leaked email shows Biden admin told officials to ‘err on the side of excess’ when evacuating Afghan refugees

President Joe Biden has said that his evacuation from Afghanistan was an “extraordinary success” that got thousands of Americans and trusted U.S. allies to safety. But a leaked email confirms what many Americans had already suspected from the chaotic news coverage: As the withdrawal unfolded, the Biden administration was, in fact, packing airplanes with as many unvetted Afghans as they could find.

According to the Washington Free Beacon, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) publicized the email, in which officials were told to fill airplanes “to excess.”

“Err on the side of excess”

The email was sent Aug. 16, a day after Kabul fell to the Taliban — precipitating a scramble for the U.S. to evacuate its embassy and end its 20-year mission in the country. At the time, images of Afghans packed like sardines into a C-17 cargo plane underscored the desperation of the situation.

According to the email Hawley shared, officials were told that the inflow of Afghans “must exceed the number of seats available.”

“Total inflow to the U.S. must exceed the number of seats available. Err on the side of excess,” the email said, according to the Free Beacon. “This guidance provides clear discretion and direction to fill seats and to provide special consideration for women and children when we have seats.”

Hawley said the email, which came with the subject line “presidential directive,” was sent by a disgruntled official upset with a lack of vetting.

“This email was shared [with] me by an American official present in Afghanistan during the evacuation who was shocked by administration’s failure to vet Afghans before they were evacuated,” Hawley wrote in a tweet, according to the Washington Examiner. “Email details orders from Joe Biden to fill up the planes — even without vetting.”

Vetting concerns linger

The Biden administration has acknowledged that only a small percentage of evacuees are Special Immigrant Visa holders (SIV), leaving many to question exactly who is being resettled in the United States.

These emails are just the latest evidence that many so-called “refugees” from Afghanistan had nothing to do with the war effort — and were not properly screened.

Americans are now seeing the devastating consequences. A refugee in Montana allegedly raped a woman recently.

But Biden has sought to expedite resettlement, signing off on billions in taxpayer funding to support Afghan refugees as part of a continuing resolution to keep the government funded, reports note.

And since Biden apparently cares a lot about America, his administration is reportedly planning to give hundreds of millions of dollars in reparations to the families of illegal immigrants separated by the Trump administration. Should we really be surprised?
