Chris Wallace ‘thrilled’ to be ditching Fox for CNN

The most notorious anti-Trump shill at Fox News, Chris Wallace, has decided to finally leave the network he has long called home for a more natural fit: CNN.

While Wallace received rhapsodizing tributes from fellow journalists, many conservatives were glad to hear the news, as Newsmax revealed in a Sunday report.

“Going where he’s always belonged”

While often portrayed as tough on both sides, Wallace did little in his time at Fox to hide his anti-Trump prejudices, which many say crept into his moderation of the first presidential debate between Trump and Joe Biden in 2020.

Wallace infamously repeated the misleading claim that Trump praised neo-Nazis after the 2017 Charlottesville rally and pressed Trump to condemn “white supremacists” who Wallace portrayed as besieging the country, despite ongoing violence being carried out by leftists at the time.

Wallace did not challenge Biden’s characterization of the far-left insurgents who were actually terrorizing the country as an “idea.” Back in 2016, Wallace similarly asked Trump if he would accept a peaceful transfer of power but did not do the same of Hillary Clinton.

Former Trump adviser Steve Cortes spoke for many when he tweeted after the announcement that Wallace belongs at CNN. Cortes also shared a clip of him confronting Wallace on-air about his partisan debate performance.

Mark McCloskey similarly tweeted that Wallace “is going where he’s always belonged,” with “the rest of the Trump bashers and news fakers!” The phrase “good riddance” trended on Twitter, according to Newsmax, reflecting widespread dissatisfaction with Wallace’s placement at the leading conservative news network.

Wallace “thrilled” for change of pace

CNN and his new employers shared a loving embrace, with Wallace saying he is “thrilled” to be joining CNN’s new streaming platform, CNN+, according to the Daily Wire.

Meanwhile, CNN boss Jeff Zucker called Wallace “as fine a journalist as there is in our business” and said his hiring “speaks volumes about our commitment to journalism.” Fox News, meanwhile, described Wallace as a journalistic asset of whom they are “extremely proud,” as CBS News reported.

Wallace’s move to CNN comes after the scandal-plagued outlet recently fired its top-rated anchor, Chris Cuomo, who consistently struggled to crack even 1 million views. According to the Daily Wire, some joked that Wallace — while perhaps more at home at CNN — is almost certainly downgrading to a smaller audience.

Before he left, Wallace was said to have complained — along with Bret Baier — about an expose on the Jan. 6 Capitol riot by Tucker Carlson, who is the consistently top-rated anchor in cable news.

Former President Trump does not appear to have issued a statement on Wallace’s departure yet.
