Former President Donald Trump just made it clear that he will not be returning to Twitter, Fox News reports.
Trump had his account removed from Twitter following the Capitol protests of Jan. 6, 2021. The company claimed that the move was necessary to prevent further violence. Others believe the de-platforming of Trump is part of Twitter and the left’s mission to silence their political opposition.
Recently, though, with the prospect of Elon Musk buying Twitter and turning it into a free speech zone, the question had been raised as to whether Trump would return to a Musk-owned Twitter. Now, with Twitter announcing that it has agreed to Musk’s offer, that question is no longer a hypothetical one.
Trump answered the question on Monday, and you may or may not like his answer.
Trump told Fox News that he will not be returning to Twitter, even with Musk leading the company.
“I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on TRUTH,” Trump said referring to his own social media platform, TRUTH Social. “I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH.”
Trump continued: “[TRUTH Social is] taking in millions of people, and what we’re finding is that the response on TRUTH is much better than being on Twitter. Twitter has bots and fake accounts, and we are doing everything we can.”
“The bottom line is, no, I am not going back to Twitter,” Trump concluded.
Trump’s answer is not that surprising. For a while now, he has stated that Twitter has become “very boring” since it began censoring conservative voices and since conservatives simply began leaving the platform. Trump reiterated his position to Fox.
“It became boring because there was no interaction,” Trump said.
So, Trump is sticking with TRUTH Social, and he says that the plan is for him to formally join his social media outlet over the next week. Trump told Fox that in the very near future he will begin “TRUTHing.”
“This is a platform for my voice,” Trump said. “TRUTH is a platform for my voice and for my supporters. But I want everybody to come over to TRUTH—conservatives, liberals, whatever.”
