Trump warns of canceled holiday gatherings, celebrations, if Biden elected president

President Donald Trump just gave Americans another possible reason to vote for his re-election on Tuesday.

Breitbart reports that Trump warned voters that if Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden were to win, our country’s major holiday celebrations could be effectively canceled.

“No school, no graduations, no weddings”

The president issued the warning during a campaign event that he held in Michigan on Friday.

“There will be no school, no graduations, no weddings, no Thanksgivings, no Christmas, no Fourth of July,” the president claimed.

He continued by asserting that his Democratic rival “doesn’t have a clue,” adding that the former vice president “wants to keep everyone locked up.”

“The futures of our youngest citizens”

Repeating a phrase he has used at various stages of the ongoing public health crisis, Trump maintained that the solution to the coronavirus pandemic should not be more severe than the virus itself.

The president claimed that Biden wants every American, including those “who are at extremely low risk,” to remain largely isolated at home throughout the duration of the pandemic.

“He wants to steal the dreams [and] the futures of our youngest citizens,” Trump said.

For his part, Biden is echoing his party’s position that face-mask mandates and targeted lockdowns are integral parts of an effective COVID-19 response plan. Trump dismissed that argument during his recent stop in Michigan.

“It’s a whole thing and it goes away”

“If you look at Europe, they’re surging despite these draconian lockdowns,” he said. “They have it locked down and they’re surging.”

His remarks are backed up by evidence that lockdowns, as implemented in the U.S. and elsewhere around the world, have been largely ineffective in limiting the spread of the pandemic virus. Meanwhile, Trump has maintained his insistence that Americans should not live in fear of contracting COVID-19, but face it with the resolve necessary to fight through this current crisis.

He told his supporters in Michigan: “So what happens is, you get it. If you get it, stay away. If you get it, you’re going to get better and then you’re going to be immune and it’s a whole thing and it goes away.”
