Trump challenges Biden to ‘try’ cognitive test he says he ‘aced’

The president has just issued a bold challenge to his likely opponent in the race for the White House.

The Daily Caller reports that Donald Trump suggested last week that presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden should take the cognitive test he says he has already undergone.

“He cannot pass the test I ‘aced,'” Trump tweeted. “He should give it a try!!!”

Anything you can do…

Back in 2018, then-White House Physician Ronny Jackson did in fact administer the Montreal Cognitive Assessment to President Trump, stating that the commander in chief was found to be “cognitively in tact,” as Breitbart noted.

At the time, Trump — as is currently the case with Biden — was facing suggestions that he was mentally unfit for office. As a result, President Trump requested to undergo a cognitive test that no other president had received, simply as a means to silence his critics.

According to Breitbart, Biden recently claimed that he has been formally assessed on the status of his cognitive function, saying, “I’ve been tested and I’m constantly tested.”

The problem, of course, is that no evidence of such testing has been provided — for all Americans know, it has never really happened.

Further, it seems certain that if Biden has indeed been assessed, the results must not have been terribly encouraging, or else his campaign would be shouting them from the rooftops to put rumors of mental unfitness to rest once and for all.

No contest

There is another key difference between the two candidates on this issue — namely, that President Trump has not shown any indications of marked cognitive decline, whereas Biden has repeatedly done so in a very public way.

Since entering the presidential race in March, Biden’s campaign has been characterized by a troubling pattern of mental miscues. Most recently, for example, Biden introduced himself by saying, “I’m Joe Biden’s husband. Joe Biden,” as Breitbart reported. And, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

On Super Tuesday, seen by many as a crucial turning point in his 2020 campaign, Biden took to the stage at the end of the evening and appeared to confuse his wife with his sister when making introductions in front of his crowd of supporters — and the list of malaprops and misfires goes on and on.

Trump’s boast that he has already “aced” a cognitive function test seemed certain to poke Biden into a concrete response, but the longer the former VP goes without giving the public tangible proof of his mental fitness, the more likely it is that doubts about his capabilities will persist.
