Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden, in a nod to his party’s left-wing, recently joined with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and others to develop a “unity” platform of policies that would be implemented if he is elected in November.
In response, however, President Donald Trump took his time during a Rose Garden press event Tuesday to attack Biden’s proposals one at a time and expose them for the anti-American radicalism they represent, as Breitbart reports.
Trump takes Biden to task
It wasn’t long into his speech that Trump raised Biden’s name for the first of many mentions and detailed the ways in which Biden has worked to serve the interests of the Chinese communist regime over the interests of Americans in his 47 years in government. He also asked why Biden never took action during that time to solve the problems to which he now claims to have so many answers.
“And he didn’t do any of the things, but now he says he’s going to be President, and, as President, he’s going to do all the things that he didn’t do,” Trump said, according to Breitbart. “He never did — never did anything, except make very bad decisions, especially on foreign policy.”
Following some additional criticism of Biden’s connections to China — including a mention of the former vice president’s son Hunter — and of his embrace of the radical leftists in the Democratic Party, Trump turned his attention to the “unity” platform recently developed and released to the public.
“But one of the things I just asked my people to do is just draw up for me, just quickly, some of the things that we’ve been hearing about over the last couple of weeks. And these are actual key elements of the Biden–Sanders unity platform,” Trump said, as Breitbart reported.
Speaking for roughly an hour, President Trump then proceeded to list no fewer than 42 separate policy proposals included in the unity platform, denouncing each of them one by one as both wrong and inherently destructive to this nation and its future prosperity.
Unpacking the platform
Roughly half of the policies mentioned by Trump had to do with potentially abolishing or greatly weakening border controls and immigration laws, with others having a similar deleterious impact on law enforcement, the justice system, domestic energy production, and even the educational system and school choice.
According to Just The News, Trump railed against Biden’s desire to eliminate immigration detention and prosecutions for those who cross the border illegally, his support for sanctuary cities, and his willingness to provide taxpayer-funded benefits to illegal aliens.
With regard to law and justice, Trump suggested that Biden would “abolish law enforcement as we know it,” end the cash bail system, abolish the death penalty, embrace social justice concepts, end mandatory minimum sentences, close prisons, abolish solitary confinement, and even provide taxpayer-funded housing for former convicts.
As for domestic energy production, Trump asserted that a Biden administration would rejoin the Paris Climate Accord, mandate zero carbon emissions across a variety of sectors within the next 10-30 years, and force all school buses and government vehicle fleets to be completely electric, while also building hundreds of thousands of taxpayer-funded charging stations across the country.
Finally, Trump insisted that a Biden presidency would spell the end for school choice, end tax credit scholarships for disadvantaged students, deny funding for charter schools, abolish educational standards, and even eradicate the nation’s suburbs via housing and zoning regulations — potential outcomes which are far too radical for the average voter and wholly antithetical to the American way of life.
