Trump comes out strong against DeSantis in brutal online attack

Former President Donald Trump released a scathing message online attacking Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis as he becomes the talk of a 2024 White House run.

Trump shared the strong words in a post shared in a press release and on his Truth Social platform.

The attack

“Now, Ron DeSanctimonious is playing games! The Fake News asks him if he’s going to run if President Trump runs, and he says, ‘I’m only focused on the Governor’s race, I’m not looking into the future,'” Trump’s statement read.

“Well, in terms of loyalty and class, that’s really not the right answer,” Trump said.

The latest

“Trump lashed out as he is expected to make a major announcement from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, widely expected to be his declaration to run for president in 2024, even as some urged him to stand down ahead of a Georgia Senate runoff following a weaker-than-expected performance by Republicans in the midterm elections,” the Washington Examiner reported.

“Trump also said he voted for DeSantis on Tuesday,” it added.

The preemptive strike may backfire on Trump. Many GOP leaders have spoken out against the former president’s attacks against one of the party’s rising stars.

DeSantis could actually benefit by letting Trump continue to unleash unnecessary attacks while he continues to lead Florida and influence conservatives nationwide.

Trump could do much better by partnering with DeSantis, but it appears he has made his decision and one that could be more harmful in the long run.
