Trump correctly predicted Elon Musk would back out of Twitter deal

News broke last week regarding Elon Musk backing out of acquiring Twitter for $44 billion, citing reasons revolving around the social media company’s failure to be forthright with the number of bots and spam accounts that make up the platform.

According to a Breitbart exclusive, former President Donald Trump reminded readers that he knew Musk wouldn’t actually go through with the deal, even as the hype around the situation continued to build.

“I knew that Twitter had a lot of the fake accounts because I read, like everyone else does,” Trump told the outlet on Friday.

He added: “I knew they had a lot of the fake accounts like the bots and everything else that they had. I thought that the price was exorbitant; the price he was paying for it was exorbitant.”

“Called it early”

Musk, last week, had his attorneys file the formal paperwork with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announcing that he was pulling out of the deal, along with an explanation of the reason why.

It’s no surprise that Trump, being the business pro he is, knew the deal wouldn’t come to fruition.

“I called it early and said, ‘That deal is never going to happen,’” the former president said.

He added: “We’re going to have to see what happens because they’re going to be saying, ‘You owe us $44 billion’ because I hear they have a very tight contract. It’s supposed to be ‘iron-clad,’ but I don’t know how you define ‘iron-clad.’ But it’s an ‘iron-clad’ contract, and he put up a billion-dollar deposit, so I see that ending up in a lot of litigation.”

Trump was referring to Twitter’s immediate response to Musk’s announcement, vowing to take the Tesla billionaire to court to force the deal to be pushed through.

Trump’s advantage

With Musk bailing out of the Twitter deal, the former president told Breitbart that the situation, overall, was good for his own social media platform, Truth Social.

“It’s very successful. We have better interactions. It’s doing phenomenal, and it’ll be over five million people very soon, and we’ll be at ten million people in the not-too-distant future,” Trump said of Truth Social.

Only time will tell what comes of Twitter’s lawsuit against Musk, but many believe that Musk will ultimately prevail.
