Trump declares that even if he’s invited, he won’t return to Twitter

Fox Business reported this week that Twitter moved to accept an offer from Elon Musk to buy the company for $44 billion dollars.

Given Musk’s support for free speech, many Democrats fear his purchase will mark the return of former President Donald Trump. However, a recent announcement by Trump has cast doubt on that possibility.

Trump’s loyal to TRUTH

The former president told Fox News on Monday that he has no intention of reactivating his Twitter account and instead promoted his own social media platform known as TRUTH Social.

“I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on TRUTH,” Trump declared, adding that he planned to begin using TRUTH Social within a week’s time.

“I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH,” the former president added.

“The bottom line is, no, I am not going back to Twitter,” Trump concluded, stressing that he found Twitter to be “boring.”

Musk’s promise

In a statement released on Monday, Musk promised to reduce censorship and promote a greater degree of openness on Twitter.

“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Musk said.

“I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans,” Musk continued.

Twitter employees whine

Fox Business also reported that news of Musk’s takeover has resulted in a distraught outlook among Twitter’s many left-leaning employees.

New York Times reporter Talmon Joseph Smith said in a tweet that the atmosphere at Twitter’s corporate headquarters was “absolutely insane.”

Smith quoted unnamed employees as saying that they felt ready “to throw up.” One angry staff member described Musk as “a petulant little boy” who had only purchased the social media company as an attempt to “troll” his critics.
