‘No. I’m not joking’: Trump repeats demand for Biden to take drug test before debate

Both presidential candidates are scheduled to square off at Cleveland’s Case Western Reserve University on Tuesday for the first of three presidential debates.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly cast doubt on opponent Joe Biden’s mental ability, and he still wants to know if the former vice president is getting some chemical help.

Breitbart reported that Trump told journalists at a Sunday press conference that he would like to see Biden take a drug test before the event.

Trump doubles down

“No. I’m not joking,” the website quoted Trump as saying. “I’m willing to take a drug test, I think he should too,” the president went on to add.

For evidence, Trump pointed to how Biden’s performance appeared to improve during his final primary debate with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders after previously seeming to “be out of it.”

“He was okay,” the presidential incumbent went on to contend of Biden’s showing. “I mean, he wasn’t great; he wasn’t terrible; he was okay.”

“People say he was on performance-enhancing drugs; a lot of people have said that, a lot of people have written that,” Trump continued.

“Plenty of people say it”

“You can check out the internet, you’ll see, plenty of people say it,” Trump said. “And whether he is or not, doesn’t matter; he can take a test and I can take a test too.”

This isn’t the first time Trump has voiced suspicions that Biden would resort to some sort of performance-enhancing drugs as a way of making it through the debate.

“Don’t underestimate him, look, he’s been doing this for 47 years,” Breitbart quoted the president as saying last week. “You never know. They give him a big fat shot in the ass and he comes out, and for two hours, he’s better than ever before.”

Biden has exhibited signs of declining cognitive capabilities throughout his presidential run, often making bizarre and nonsensical statements.

Examples have included mixing up his wife and his sister, telling voters that he is running for a seat in the U.S. Senate, forgetting what state he is in, misquoting the Declaration of Independence, and instructing detractors to “vote for the other Biden.”
