Although Big Tech firms and many in the mainstream media have attempted to relegate former President Donald Trump to exile after he left office earlier this month, he remains a prominent figure within Republican Party politics.
As one notable example, Trump issued an endorsement this week of former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders in her bid to become the next governor of Arkansas.
“Strong on borders, tough on crime”
Even as speculation swirls around Trump’s future political moves, he spoke out in support of the “GREAT” Sanders in her planned bid.
In a statement on Monday, Trump praised his one-time spokeswoman as a “warrior” who will “do what is right” for the state while fighting back against oppressive political correctness.
“Sarah is strong on borders, tough on crime and fully supports the second amendment and our great law enforcement officers,” Trump added.
The former president went on to describe Sanders as someone who “loves our military and veterans — and her home state of Arkansas,” reiterating that she has his “complete and total endorsement.”
If successful, Sanders would follow in the footsteps of her father, former GOP Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. Prior to leaving the Trump White House in June 2019, Sanders gained a reputation for a combative approach in responding to the press.
“I will be your voice”
She touted her time in the Trump administration upon announcing her candidacy.
“I took on the media, the radical left, and their cancel culture, and I won,” Sanders said. “As governor, I will be your voice and never let them silence you.”
For his part, Trump continues to keep the nation guessing about his future ambitions since heading to Florida earlier this month. He has pledged to return to the political stage “in some form” during a farewell address shortly before his term in office ended on Jan. 20.
Earlier this week, Trump launched the Office of the Former President to “carry out” his agenda. A statement announcing the office’s creation asserted that the former president “will always and forever be a champion for the American people.”
