CNN contributor suggests Trump should be prosecuted for instigating ‘a race war in America’: Report

Democrats are doing everything they can to beat President Donald Trump in November’s election — but CNN analyst April Ryan just offered up another method of removing Trump from office.

According to the Washington Free Beacon, Ryan suggested last week that Trump should be investigated and perhaps prosecuted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for instigating what she characterized as “a race war in America.”

“This president, Donald John Trump, has instigated a race war in America,” Ryan said last Sunday, according to RealClearPolitics.

“There is a race war right now because of this president,” the analyst continued. “People are calling me, asking if there indeed is a way to get the International Crimes Court [sic] to come in to deal with this.”

“Let’s call the thing a thing”

According to a transcript from RealClearPolitics, Ryan said last Sunday that “Portland, Oregon, is ground zero” for Trump’s alleged “race war.”

“This president, Donald John Trump, has basically stoked the flames for racist extremists, neo-Nazis, and the alt-right,” she said, arguing that the ICC should look into the matter.

“You know, I’ve talked to some people who are in intelligence, and they’re saying, ‘He’s done heinous things,’ but…we don’t know for sure,” she said, according to RealClearPolitics. “But people are now afraid of this president, because he has stoked the racial flames.

“Let’s call the thing a thing,” she added. “He has now begun a race war in America in 2020.”

“A race war in America”

To back up her claims, Ryan pointed to Trump’s defense of 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, who has been accused of shooting three protesters, killing two, at a recent anti-police brutality demonstration in Kenosha, Wisconsin. According to Fox News, “Rittenhouse currently faces charges including murder, although video from The New York Times and an eyewitness account have corroborated his attorney’s claim that he was fleeing from protesters.”

“He was trying to get away from them, I guess, it looks like,” Trump said Monday, as NPR reported. “I guess he was in very big trouble. He probably would have been killed.”

According to NPR, Trump acknowledged that the incident remains under investigation. But Ryan has apparently made up her mind on who to blame.

“This president is even defending Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old who went in Wisconsin and killed two protesters. So, at the end of the day, the mayor of Portland is absolutely right. And there are those who are calling for help from this president,” the CNN analyst said, according to RealClearPolitics. “There is a race war in America right now because of this president.”
