The Washington Examiner just published a report highlighting the multiple legal “setbacks” that former President Donald Trump has suffered since announcing his 2024 candidacy for the U.S. presidency.
The Examiner here is referencing several different events that just recently occurred, starting with a decision from the U.S. Supreme Court.
The justices of the high court on Tuesday blocked Trump’s request to stop the Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee from getting access to his tax returns.
The Democrats on this committee have been attempting to get their hands on Trump’s tax records since 2019. And, now – compliments of the U.S. Supreme Court – it appears as though they are going to get their wish – just in time for 2024.
The ever-growing list
Next up, there is the ongoing abuse and defamation lawsuit that was brought against Trump by author E. Jean Carroll back in 2019. Carroll, this week, revealed her intent to file a new battery and defamation civil lawsuit – under New York’s new sexual assault law – against Trump.
Then, the ongoing investigation is being led into Trump’s business by New York Attorney General Letitia James. The judge this week made it clear that he is going to move the case forward to trial.
Then, there is the ongoing documents dispute between Trump and the U.S. Department of Justice, including the unprecedented raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. Reports this week indicates that the court is looking to end the special master review of the documents seized by the FBI.
On top of all of this, we also cannot forget that the DOJ, under Attorney General Merrick Garland, has appointed a special counsel to investigate Trump with regard to the Capitol protest of Jan. 6, 2021.
It’s just insane
To supporters of Trump, it sure does appear that the powers that be are conspiring to upend Trump’s 2024 bid before it even gets going.
All of this comes after Trump’s announcement of his 2024 candidacy, and it’s hard to believe that this is not a coincidence.
It is also hard to believe that one man can stand up to all of this, not forgetting that these attacks on Trump date back to before he became president.
Trump, however, has made it clear that he is not backing down. And, House Republicans are looking to restore some balance to the political scene by launching their investigation into the Biden family.
