A recent study published by medRxiv showed that the drug hydroxychloroquine is effective in increasing the survival rate of coronavirus patients.
According to the study, hydroxychloroquine along with zinc, increase the survival rate of severely ill and ventilated patients of coronavirus by almost 200 percent.
“We found that when the cumulative doses of two drugs, HCQ and AZM, were above a certain level, patients had a survival rate 2.9 times the other patients,” the study’s conclusion states.
“By using causal analysis and considering of weight-adjusted cumulative dose, we prove the combined therapy, >3 g HCQ and > 1g AZM greatly increases survival in Covid patients on IMV and that HCQ cumulative dose > 80 mg/kg works substantially better,” the results stated.
According to Yahoo News, the details of the study included that it was conducted by Saint Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey on 255 patients.
Hydroxychloroquine was promoted by former President Donald Trump and his administration as being an effective treatment for victims of the pandemic, and Trump took the therapeutic himself when he was diagnosed with coronavirus.
However, the president was contradicted by prominent doctors, including his own White House coronavirus team member Dr. Anthony Fauci and World Health Organization warned against using the drug to prevent the coronavirus earlier this year, citing data suggesting it was ineffective
Political pundits also weighed in, solidifying in the minds of listeners that the drug was nothing more than a placebo treatment meant to offer a false sense of security,
In fact, in the summer of 2020, Twitter restricted the account of Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., after he posted a video of doctors that did support the use of hydroxychloroquine.
The social media platform also weighed in, nullifying those medical professionals’ opinions saying that the video was supposedly “spreading misleading and potentially harmful misinformation” related to the coronavirus.
Conservatives, including Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, are irate at the number of Americans who could have been helped with the drug that were not allowed access in what is thought have been monetary politically or motivated statements by doctors like Fauci and others:
How many people died bc Dr. Fauci said trust the science and Hydroxychloroquine isn’t effective?
New study shows:
Hydroxychloroquine + Azithromycin therapy at a higher dose improved survival by nearly 200% in ventilated COVID patients.
