President Donald Trump is facing attacks from a new quarter: his own family.
The president’s niece, Mary Trump, is planning to release a “harrowing” tell-all book to embarrass the president right before the Republican National Convention, according to a new report from Mediaite.
A “harrowing” tell-all
President Trump’s tenure has been rocked not just by baseless media lies, but a continuous train of salacious books about him by former White House aides and gossip columnists. Now, it looks like bad blood within the Trump family will furnish the material for another scabrous tale.
Mary Trump, the president’s niece, is reportedly set to release a book revealing that she provided family documents for a 2018 New York Times story, which claimed that Trump committed tax fraud and embellished his reputation as a self-made real estate mogul with millions in capital from his father, Fred Trump Sr., according to Mediaite.
The book comes in the shadow of a troubled history within the Trump dynasty. According to Business Insider, Mary and her brother, Fred III, once sued over claims that they were cheated out of their father’s inheritance from Fred Sr.’s passing in 1999, thanks to the alleged conniving of Donald and his siblings.
“Given this family, it would be utterly naive to say it has nothing to do with money. But for both me and my brother, it has much more to do with that our father [Fred Jr.] be recognized,” Mary said of the legal controversy in 2000, according to the Daily Beast.
Titled Too Much and Never Enough, the tome will reportedly claim that Donald and his father “contributed to” the death of Mary’s father, Fred Trump Jr., through neglect, the Daily Beast added.
Fred died from a heart attack related to alcoholism in 1981, at 42, a tragedy that Donald has cited as the reason for his abstinence from drinking, as Business Insider notes.
The book will also contain “damning” thoughts from Trump’s sister, retired judge Maryanne Trump Barry, about the current president, according to Mediaite, and other “harrowing and salacious” tidbits drawn from the Trump family history.
Donald, sister Maryanne, and brother Robert, for instance, were said to cut off the medical insurance for Fred III’s son, who has cerebral palsy, as revenge for the controversy over their father’s will.
The book from the president’s niece will come out just days before the Republican National Convention this August, Mediaite notes.
Only time will tell whether this is all a nothing-burger or a bruising scandal waiting in the wings.
