Some on the left are trying once again to get Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show taken off the air after the host had harsh words for the Black Lives Matter movement, as Deadline reports.
Carlson said that Fox News is not “intimidated” as advertisers including Disney and T-Mobile stopped doing business with Tucker Carlson Tonight.
Advertisers bolt over BLM critique
Carlson has been outspokenly critical of Black Lives Matter throughout the unrest sparked by 46-year-old George Floyd’s recent death in police custody. On Monday, he called the advocacy group a “political party” that is rapidly gaining in power which no one is allowed to question.
“Here’s the new rule and it defines everything: You are not allowed to question Black Lives Matter in any way. Full stop. That rule has been enforced without mercy everywhere and not just in this country,” he said, according to Fox.
The mob apparently tried to prove his point: Carlson’s analysis of Black Lives Matter sparked immediate outrage, and T-Mobile and ABC, which is owned by Disney, said that they would pull their advertisements from his show.
“We haven’t run ads on ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight’ since early May and have canceled all future placements. We will continue to support those who stand against racial injustice,” T-Mobile said.
Executives at Disney claimed that advertisements were “placed on the show without our knowledge by third party media buyers,” USA Today noted.
Carlson, Fox stand firm
Carlson’s show has been a recurring target of the left, but efforts to suppress dissenting points of view have reached a shocking new level as a movement against “systemic racism” gains momentum.
That movement has seen powerful corporations endorse Black Lives Matter with pseudo-spontaneous, robotic statements of Woke solidarity, while transgressors have been fired from their jobs and pressured to give tortured statements of penance, in a phenomenon that critics have compared to the infamous “struggle sessions” from Maoist China. Carlson himself has described the tyranny he sees unfolding as a “cultural revolution.”
On his show Tuesday night, Carlson addressed the mob’s efforts to cancel the show.
“They’ve spent the last 24 hours trying to force this show off the air for good. They won’t succeed in that, thankfully. We work for one of the last brave companies in America, and they’re not intimidated. We’re grateful for that,” he declared.
Without free speech, America is doomed. The left fears Carlson for one reason: he’s brave enough to tell the truth.
