Prior to taking her first trip to explore the “root causes” of the northward migration surge from Central American countries, Vice President Kamala Harris was already facing extreme criticism for her failure to make any progress.
According to the Washington Examiner, the criticism is now spiking after her stint in Guatemala, where she offered a bizarre response after NBC’s Lester Holt reminded her that she hasn’t yet been to the southern U.S. border. Carlson slammed both Harris for her response and the media for treating her with kid gloves thus far.
What did Harris say?
Holt was perhaps the first journalist in the left-leaning, corporate mainstream media realm to challenge Harris regarding her status as far as visiting the southern U.S. border, but the exchange became awkward after Harris responded to his inquiry.
“At some point, you know, we are going to the border. We’ve been to the border. So this whole thing about the border. We’ve been to the border. We’ve been to the border,” Harris said.
Obviously a false statement, Holt showed an unprecedented measure of journalistic integrity and snapped back with, “You haven’t been to the border.”
Harris, who emitted her signature cackle in situations when she’s cornered and doesn’t know how to escape, responded with, “And I haven’t been to Europe. And I mean, I don’t understand the point that you’re making.”
Carlson was quick to pounce on Harris’ weird Europe reply, saying during his show that such a reply isn’t unexpected, as Harris has never had to face tough questions from her vast number of allies in the mainstream media.
“Harris has continued to ascend”
Carlson went on to point out that he believes the only reason why “Harris has continued to ascend,” despite her unimpressive background and qualifications, is because Democrats absolutely demanded that a female person of color be selected as President Joe Biden’s running mate — a demand with which Biden obviously complied.
“Meanwhile, because it is so improbable that someone this unimpressive has become so powerful, the people in charge are forced to assure us, almost with hysteria, that she is brilliant and impressive,” Carlson said. “In order to prepare the rest of us for the inevitable march to the White House, they’ve created a Soviet-level cult of personality around her.”
The Fox News host went especially hard on the media celebrating the fact that Harris was the first female person of color at the vice presidential level to make a trip to Guatemala as if her race and gender had anything to do with anything.
“The nub of the theme here is that she is a ‘person of color.’ So when a person of color goes to Latin America to be around other ‘people of color,’ it’s a love match,” Carlson said, before pointing out that it turns out that wasn’t the case, as the vice president received a cold reception upon landing in the Central American country, with conservative protesters shouting at her to go home.
Depending on who you ask, the vice president’s trip to Guatemala appears to be a total bust, as it won’t effect any meaningful change on the true crisis, which is unfolding at the southern U.S. border by the day.
