During his prime time Fox News show on Thursday night, Tucker Carlson exposed Democrat vice presidential hopeful Kamala Harris for what she is: an unapologetic progressive who wants to take your guns.
Recounting remarks from Harris at various points on the campaign trail over the last several months, Carlson issued a stark warning to advocates of the Second Amendment. “Kamala Harris has plans for your guns,” Carlson said on Thursday’s episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight.
He went on: “But more than that, she’s willing to threaten Congress if they don’t make a law that matches her desires immediately.”
Harris: A pro-life Democrat?
Carlson was referring to remarks Harris made in at a CNN town hall in April 2019, when the California senator and then-Democrat presidential primary hopeful vowed to give Congress “100 days to get their act together and have the courage to pass reasonable gun safety laws” upon her election, as Newsweek reported. “And if they fail to do it, then I will take executive action,” she said.
But according to Carlson, a “mandatory buyback” is akin to a “mandatory donation.”
“It’s not a donation, it’s theft,” the Fox host explained. “A mandatory buyback isn’t a buyback, it’s seizure, obviously.”
Carlson went on to play a clip of Harris speaking with reporters in February 2018, days after a gunman killed 14 students and three staff members at a Florida high school, The Hill reported. “We have to have smart gun safety laws,” Harris said, “and we cannot tolerate a society and live in a country with any level of pride when our babies are being slaughtered.”
Pushing back on Harris’ comments, Carlson joked: “Clearly, we have mislabeled Kamala Harris. Turns out, she’s one of the few pro-life Democrats in the Senate.”
“Taking people’s guns”
Carlson also echoed Thursday something that Republicans and even some Democrats have been saying for months: presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s running mate could end up being president long before his first term is set to expire — if he can first get himself elected. That possibility seems to be growing as the election draws closer, which makes Harris’ anti-gun statements more worrying than they would otherwise be.
Carlson’s guest, Second Amendment activist Colion Noir, echoed that sentiment Thursday. “We’re talking about a potential Kamala presidency, not so much a Joe Biden presidency,” Noir told the Fox host, noting that Biden’s “mental acuity is by far in question.”
Noir went on to urge voters to take Harris’ gun-grabbing plans seriously. “So [she] can use whatever pretty, fancy words and euphemisms that she wants to use, but what she’s talking about is literally taking people’s guns,” he said Thursday. Take a look:
