There were more than a dozen mass shootings across the United States this weekend as the nation continues its struggle with violent crime.
The most highly publicized shooting occurred Sunday at a shopping mall in suburban Indiana where a gunman killed three people before he was shot dead by an armed Good Samaritan.
Two others were injured, including a 12-year-old girl, in the shooting at Greenwood Park Mall in Greenwood, Indiana. The carnage began around 6 p.m. when the adult male suspect, armed with a rifle and several magazines, walked into the food court and started shooting.
The massacre came to a stop when a heroic 22-year-old bystander shot the suspect dead.
“The real hero of the day was the citizen that was lawfully carrying a firearm in the food court and was able to stop the shooter almost as soon as he began,” Greenwood Police Chief James Ison said.
There was more bloodshed Saturday night at a bowling alley in the San Francisco Bay Area where a man was killed during an altercation.
The suspect shot three people, including the 28-year-old man who died, at Granada Bowl in downtown Livermore, where families and children were celebrating a birthday party, according to a local news report. The gunman, who is in his 20s, fled the scene and is still at large.
Democrats tend to capitalize on highly publicized shootings involving “assault weapons” to target law-abiding gun owners, but most gun violence occurs routinely in Democrat-run cities.
While few received much media coverage, there were at least 15 mass shootings over the weekend, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
Two people were killed and another two were injured in a shooting at a sports bar in Columbus, Ohio, early Saturday. Four people were killed in Houston Saturday night after an argument erupted into a deadly shootout at an apartment complex.
That same evening, a man was killed, and three others were injured in a mass shooting in Washington, D.C. Two people were killed and two were seriously injured in a shooting at a crowded house party in Vancouver, Washington, early Sunday morning.
A person was killed and three were injured in a shooting at a park in Beech Grove, Indiana on Sunday night.
