Two new polls spell 2024 trouble for the Dems

The Democrats just received some more bad 2024 news.

One newly-released poll just found that only about one-third of Democrats want to see President Joe Biden run again in 2024, and another found the majority of Americans do not believe that Vice President Kamala Harris is qualified for the job.

Let’s start with Biden

These findings come from a newly-released I&I/TIPP poll, which was just conducted between December 1st and 4th.

1,013 registered voters were asked: “Who do you want to see run for president on the Democratic ticket in 2024?” 17 options were provided, including Biden, Harris, transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg, and more. The final two options were “other” and “not sure.”

From all participants, Biden only received 22 percent of the vote. 31 percent chose “not sure,” which was the winner. Harris received 12 percent of the vote.

From Democrat participants alone, Biden only received 37 percent of the vote. This was enough for a plurality, but 37 percent from one’s own party and 22 percent overall aren’t exactly inspiring numbers.

Over to Harris

This poll comes from Rasmussen Reports. Between December 5th and 6th, the pollster surveyed 1,000 likely U.S. voters.

One thing that Rasmussen asked participants was whether they believe that Harris is qualified to become U.S. president. 55 percent expressed their belief that she is not qualified for the job, and 46 percent chose “not at all qualified.”

Only 40 percent believe that Harris is qualified, and only 23 percent believe that she is “very qualified.” Democrat participants really carried the day here for Harris, as 74 percent expressed their belief that Harris is qualified to be president.

The pollster also found that only 39 percent of participants have a favorable impression of Harris, which is probably good news for Harris considering some of her recent poll results, including one that had her approval at only 28 percent.

For anyone who has been following the polling trends, these latest two polls will come as no surprise. What they highlight, though, is the very real problem that the Democrats are facing, namely, the lack of a viable 2024 candidate.

There is no guarantee that Biden is going to run again in 2024, that is, if, by then, he still has enough popularity to run again. And, poll after poll is showing that Harris is not a viable option. So, at this point, it is clear that Democrats have a lot of work to do if they even want to be competitive in 2024.
