Last week, Buzzfeed reported that U.S. District Chief Judge Beryl Howell ordered the release of previously unseen video footage captured during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, inside of the Capitol building. Among those who had a brow-raising opinion of the new footage included Fox News’ Tucker Carlson.
During last week’s airing of his nightly program, Carlson pointed to a few notable scenes from the new footage that he believes provides greater insight — and raises questions — about what really happened with the protesters that day, even suggesting that there was more federal agent involvement than Democrats would care to admit.
Carlson pointed out that in many scenes from the new footage, the assembled crowd clearly appeared to act more like common tourists than what most in the mainstream media claim were domestic terrorists. “You see people walking around and taking pictures,” Carlson noted.
“If you look at the guy in the Viking horns, the Chewbacca guy, you may reach the obvious conclusion maybe Psilocybin mushrooms aren’t good for you,” Carlson humorously remarked.
“And that’s fair,” the host acknowledged before adding, “But no honest person could look at that video and decide America is under attack from terrorists.”
However, the activities of another group of individuals were caught on camera as well, and their behavior looked to be far more sophisticated and sinister in nature.
“Surveillance footage shows a squad of people, dressed in all-black, systematically entering the Capitol and kicking open one of the exterior doors on the Senate side,” Carlson noted.
In contrast to most of those who were present, Carson observed that the select group of seemingly organized individuals “appear to be well-trained and coordinated. They’re not high on hallucinogenic mushrooms.”
“The question is, who are they?” Carlson asked. “And why don’t we know their names? And why aren’t they dressed like any of the other people in the footage that’s just been released?”
The Fox host went on to suggest another possible answer for the discrepancy between the two groups, remarking, “We still don’t know how many federal agents were involved in the events that day, but we have reason to believe from court documents that it’s a significant number.”
On Saturday, The New York Times revealed that a Proud Boys member, who was actually a federal informant, was texting his handler as the Capitol Hill riot unfolded.
“What is clear is that, once again, this footage reveals that the first draft of history was a lie. An intentional distortion. A mirage created to control you,” Carlson concluded. “It was the work of a specific political party, it was the work of the Democratic Party.”
