Report: Female US service member attacked by Afghan refugees at Army complex

During the chaotic evacuation of U.S. troops from Afghanistan last month, some observers warned that bringing large numbers of unvetted Afghan refugees to the United States in the wake of the chaos could pose serious risks.

Reports about a horrible crime earlier this month suggest that those fears have proven warranted. It’s something the Biden administration would prefer to hide from — but they can’t stick their heads in the sand this time.

According to the Washington Examiner, thousands of Afghan refugees are being held at the massive Dona Ana Army complex, which straddles the border between Texas and New Mexico.

This past Friday, Army officials at Fort Bliss released a statement to a local NBC affiliate in El Paso acknowledging that a female soldier had been assaulted there less than a week earlier.

“We take the allegation seriously”

“We can confirm a female service member supporting Operation Allies Welcome reported being assaulted on Sept. 19 by a small group of male evacuees at the Doa Ana Complex in New Mexico,” the statement read.

“We take the allegation seriously and appropriately referred the matter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” the officials added.

“The safety and well-being of our service members, as well as all of those on our installations, is paramount,” they said. “We immediately provided appropriate care, counseling and support to the service member.”

The statement went on to promise that extra security measures are being implemented at the facility, including “increased health and safety patrols, additional lighting, and enforcement of the buddy system.”

Biden admin ignores concerns

Revelations of this attack come on the heels of a report that two Afghan refugees being held at Wisconsin’s Fort McCoy have been charged with serious offenses there.

In one instance, a man is said to have attempted to sexually assault a minor, the Examiner reported separately. Meanwhile, another man stands accused of trying to strangle his wife.

Such events have led Republican lawmakers like New Mexico Rep. Yvette Herrell to complain of a “tragic failure in the vetting process for Afghan nationals.”

However, the Biden administration is continuing to deny this is the case, with Fox News quoting an official as insisting, “No one has gotten into the United States or entered that is of concern.” Really, Joe?
