Fully vaxxed Rep. Schiff announces positive test for COVID

There has been a number of prominent Democratic figures in recent weeks who are proudly fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 yet still tested positive for the virus.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), chair of the House Intelligence Committee, is the latest to make such an incongruous announcement, Axios reported.

Nevertheless, the congressman still highlighted and praised and recommended the vaccine he received that failed to do its job as initially advertised — prevent a coronavirus infection.

Schiff caught the virus

“This evening, I unfortunately tested positive for COVID-19,” Rep. Schiff announced in a tweet Tuesday night.

“I’m feeling fine, and grateful to be vaccinated and boosted. In the coming days, I will quarantine and follow CDC guidelines,” he added. “And remember, please get vaccinated!”

Number of new cases among political figures

Axios noted that there has been something of a wave of new COVID cases that appears to have swept through Washington D.C. — likely the latest subvariant of the Omicron variant that has been dubbed BA.2 — and infected a number of government officials.

In the White House, that included press secretary Jen Psaki followed by deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, just a week or so after Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, came down with the virus.

The Hill reported that CIA Director William Burns is also among that number, with his announcement somewhat concerningly coming just one day after he had met with President Joe Biden in person.

Also included among the recent high-profile new cases were failed 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton as well as New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D).

Similar messages shared by all

One thing that all of those individuals have in common is that all of them had been fully vaccinated and boosted and each invariably announced their “breakthrough” infection with a similarly worded message that expressed gratitude for the shot that failed to prevent infection and urged everyone else to get one as well.

It remains to be seen just how sick Schiff ends up getting if he even gets sick at all, and how long he may be out of action on Capitol Hill.
