A disturbing video has just been released of Russian soldiers allegedly castrating and killing a Ukrainian prisoner of war, the New York Post reports.
The authenticity of the video is reported to have been confirmed by a Ukrainian politician and journalist.
The reason why the incident is alleged is that it cannot be said with 100% certainty that those who carried out the torture were actually Russian soldiers. All that can be said is that the torturers were speaking Russian and that they were near a car with a capital “Z,” which is the symbol used by Russian troops.
This has led many to infer that Russian soldiers were behind the attack. But, again, this cannot be said for sure.
The video starts off, according to the Post, with a group of camouflaged soldiers kicking the head of a bound Ukrainian prisoner who is lying on the floor. The prisoner, who is gagged, could be heard moaning in pain as this is taking place.
From there, the situation escalates in a hurry.
The camouflaged troops could next be seen taking off the Ukrainian prisoner’s pants, exposing his private parts. The soldiers then proceed to cut off the Ukrainian prisoner’s genitalia. They do so and toss it on the ground.
Having done all of that, the soldiers, in part two of the video, shoot the prisoner of war in the head before proceeding to drag the prisoner’s dead body through the streets.
More info on the video
The video first appeared on Thursday on Russian Telegram channels. Its purpose was, reportedly, to convince the mothers of Ukrainian soldiers not to send their sons to fight against the Russians.
The video was initially posted on social media, but social media outlets had it removed after it was deemed too unsightly.
The Ukrainians are claiming that this is nothing out of the ordinary for the Russians.
Mikhailo Podolyak, an advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, tweeted:
RF propagandists delightedly showed how a group of ru-tyrants crippled [a Ukrainian] captive. World has to realize [that Russia is] a country of cannibals who enjoy torture and murder. But the fog of war will not help to avoid punishment for the executioners. We will identify and get to each of you.
