House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) just did it again.
Take a look at a clip of the latest incident, first shared by the Republican National Committee’s “GOP War Room” YouTube channel:
Mask up — or else
According to CNBC, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its guidance last week to recommend that both those who are vaccinated for COVID-19 and those who remain unvaccinated wear masks indoors in areas of the country where new cases of the disease are high.
In response, Capitol Attending Physician Brian Monahan recommended that members of the U.S. House of Representatives be required to mask up indoors, with limited exceptions, such as when speaking on the House floor or when alone in their offices.
“[F]or all House Office Buildings, the Hall of the House, and House Committee Meetings, wearing of a well-fitted, medical grade, filtration face mask is required when an individual is in an interior space and other individuals are present,” Monahan declared, according to NBC News.
Pelosi acquiesced. Now, lawmakers who refuse to comply with the congressional mask mandate are once again being threatened with fines — and non-compliant staffers and visitors even face the threat of arrest.
Rules for thee…
Of course, it’s hard to forget that Democratic leaders have been among those most likely to flout their own restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic. One of the most infamous examples came when California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) was caught unmasked eating with a large group at an upscale restaurant. Now, it seems Pelosi is following suit.
Indeed, the speaker has already been caught breaking her own mask mandate on numerous occasions within just a few days. She was first caught at a committee hearing with her mask around her neck, according to Breitbart — and from there, the violations have been multiplying.
Last Friday, Pelosi was caught at a press conference, again sans mask. Later on that day, she reportedly removed her face covering to take a photo.
To this point, Pelosi has not been punished for her repeated violations. It appears that the rules just do not apply to her.
